The Charles River Swimming Club seeks volunteers for race planning, race day assistance and the development of broader club initiatives. A common requirement is reliability and a friendly “let’s go swimming” attitude!

Race day volunteers are needed for a range of activities:

  • Registration and bag check
  • Kayakers (we can provide you with a kayak)
  • Lifeguards! If you are a lifeguard with current certification we would love to hear from you. We provide the kayak, you provide you!  Lifeguards are compensated.
  • Body marking (a sharpie and 200 swimmers)

Please also contact us if you would like to take on a more significant role in event planning!

If you would like to volunteer, please email us at volunteers@charlesriverswimmingclub.org to register. No prior experience is necessary. Fair warning, volunteers will need to be at the race site from as early as 6am on race day.

Join the club! Beyond our annual race, the CRSC is part of a broader movement to bring back public river swimming. We believe that the return of swimming to the Charles will be a landmark development that not only reconnects the city to its river but sets the bar for the rest of the nation. We are actively working in conjunction with other river organizations and government agencies to make this a reality and need your help. Future work will include site analysis, fund raising and grant writing, and public opinion research.
